This specimen was lot 23309 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Escudo, 1861-DoCP. Durango Mint. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, Unc Details Secure Holder. Appealing despite its shortcomings with light hairlines blending with significant die polish lines on both sides. Seldom seen as a date with no examples appearing in a search of archived auction records that go back well over a decade." The Durango mint struck half escudos 1833-38, 1843-55, 1859-64 and is generally considered a common mint tho many dates are rare.
