The first specimen was lot 24725 in Heritage sale 3016 (New York, January 2012), where it sold for $718.75. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Republic 8 Reales 1860 Go-PF, MS65 PCGS. Original gray, gold, and blue toning over full luster with no egregious flaws. A very scarce issue in this condition." We hasten to assure collectors contemplating this series that this date from the Guanajuato mint normally sells for a fraction of the price realized above. The Guanajuato mint issued this type 1825-97 and most dates after 1829 are readily available. An 1860/59 overdate is listed and given a slight premium.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
