This eight reales is one of a series struck 1825-97 at the Zacatecas mint. This date is common. Assayer VL is recorded for 1859-64; assayer MO is also recorded for 1855-60 and 1863-65. This specimen was lot 6465 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $373.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Zacatecas. 8 Reales, 1860-VL. CHOICE BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED."

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
