The first specimen was lot 22317 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $94. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1860-MoFH/GC. PCGS MS-63 Secure Holder. Rich, colorful toning." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca and Real de Catorce did not strike this type. The type was struck at Mexico City 1825-63 with assayer FH, who shared 1860 with assayer TH, recorded for 1858-60. Varieties for the year include 1860-TH, 1860/59-FH, 1860-FH, 1860-FH/GC. Mexico City half reales do occasionally appear in choice condition.
