This specimen was lot 72125 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $512.40. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1860/59-Ga JG. Guadalajara Mint. PCGS MS-64. Attractive toning. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors. Ex: John Jay Pittman Collection." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca and Real de Catorce did not strike this type. The Guadalajara mint struck half reales 1825-62 and quite a few dates are rare. Assayer JG (Juan de Dios Guzman) is recorded for 1836-67. No regular date exists for 1860.
