The first specimen was part of lot 22972 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), which sold for $402.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 1/2 & 1 Escudo Coins, ...Escudo 1860/59, Zs-VL, XF, obverse scratch. Both comes show some remaining luster." The Zacatecas mint struck this type 1853, 1860 and 1862 and this date is priced by the SCWC about 35% higher than a common issue such as 1825-Mo.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.875 fine gold, .095 troy oz AGW.
