Ponterio sale 168, lot 50229

The Guanajuato mint struck half escudos 1825-70 and is one of the abundant mints for that denomination; most dates are common. This specimen was lot 50229 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $182. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Escudo, 1860-GoPF. NGC AU-58."

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.875 fine gold, .047 troy oz AGW.
