This specimen was lot 72161 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $109. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1860/59-Go PF. Guanajuato Mint. PCGS AU-55. Finest of only two graded by NGC. The other is VF-25. Scarce overdate. Only example graded by PCGS. Sharply struck with attractive toning. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca and Real de Catorce did not strike this type. The Guanajuato mint struck half reales 1826-62 and 1867-68 and most of the dates are common. Assayer PF served 1848-61. Large and small "½" varieties exist for 1860. The SCWC does not award this overdate a premium.
