This specimen was lot 73289 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $292.80. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 4 Reales, 1862-Pi RO. San Luis Potosi Mint. NGC AU Details--Cleaned. Tied for second highest graded by NGC. Sharply struck with full original luster on obverse. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Alamos, Chihuahua, Estado de Mexico and Durango did not strike this type. The San Luis Potosi mint struck four reales 1837-38, 1842-64, 1868-69 and many dates are rare. Assayer RO (Romualdo Obregon) is recorded for 1859-65. This type, legal tender in the pre Civil War United States for a half dollar, is common up thru Very Fine.

Recorded mintage: unknown but fairly common.
