Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction, lot 72302

This specimen was lot 72302 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $610. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Real, 1862/1-Do CP. Durango Mint. NGC VF Details--Cleaned. Second best of only two examples graded by NGC. Sharply struck. A very nice example of this rare one-year type. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Alamos, Oaxaca and Real de Catorce did not strike this type. The Durango mint struck one reales 1832-37, 1841-64 and most are scarcer than the SCWC indicates. No regular date is recorded for this year. Assayer CP (Carlos de la Peña) is listed for 1853-73.
