This specimen was part of lot 72403 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), which sold for $390.40. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Trio of Reales (3 Pieces), 1831-62. Mexico City Mint. Average Grade: EXTREMELY FINE. 1) 1831-Mo JM. Very scarce. 2) 1852-Mo GC. Ex: Jamie Varon Collection. 3) 1862-Mo CH. Very scarce. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Alamos, Oaxaca and Real de Catorce did not strike this type. Mexico City struck one reales 1825-33, 1850-63 and a number of dates are rare. Assayer CH is recorded for 1861-69.
