Stack's Bowers 2021 NYINC sale, lot 24204

This specimen was lot 24204 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $552. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1862/1-Do CP. Durango Mint. PCGS MS-63. A pleasing, clearly overdated coin with sharp obverse strike. The toning is a mottled almond with satiny underlying luster, and a faint die clash can be detected on the reverse." The Durango mint struck eight reales 1824-95 and this date (regular date and 1862/1 overdate) is listed as common.
