Shown is an 1842Pi-PS 4 reales, one of a type struck at the Potosi mint 1837-38, 1842-64, 1868-69. Assayer PS is recorded for 1842-43. Ten mints (Mexico City, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Potosi, Oaxaca, Hermosillo, Real del Catorce, Guadalupe y Calvo, Guadalajara and Culiacan) struck this type of which Zacatecas is tied with Guanajuato as the commonest mint. This date is scarce.
