This specimen was lot 73120 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $149. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1842-Mo ML. Mexico City Mint. NGC Fine Details--Cleaned. Scarce date. Appears better than Fine for wear, with attractive toning. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca did not strike this type. Shown is an 1842-M^O ML 2 reales, one of a type struck at the Mexico City mint 1825-37, 1840-42, 1847-63, 1867-68 with assayer ML noted for 1833-42. Assayer MM, who also served in 1842, is not known to have issued any two reales.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW.
