Morton & Eden sale 104, lot 524

This specimen was lot 524 in Morton & Eden sale 104 (London, November 2019), where it sold for £300 (about US$465 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted, "Republic, 8 reales, Zacatecas mint, 1842 OM, die style of 1842-45, coinage axis, well struck for the issue, minor bagmarks but mint state with much original mint lustre." This eight reales is one of a series struck 1825-97 at the Zacatecas mint. Assayer OM is recorded for 1831-55. Two different eagles are noted for this date, both common.
