Mexico 1842-D RM real

from the San Dimas Collection

Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction, part of lot 72303

The first specimen was struck at the Durango mint in 1842, one of a type struck there 1832-64. Assayer RM (Ramon Mascarenas) is listed for 1832-48. The SCWC also lists the overdate 1842/32 but does not note the obvious RM/RL overassayer visible here. Both the regular date and the overdate are not common. The second specimen was part of lot 72303 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $512.40.
