This specimen was lot 72193 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $671. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1842-Mo MM. Mexico City Mint. NGC MS-64. Scarce assayer. Tied with one other for highest graded by NGC. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." This specimen was struck at the Mexico City mint in 1842, one of a type struck there 1825-63. Assayer MM is listed for 1842-43. The SCWC also lists assayer ML for the year. Both are common. The identities of the Mexico City assayers are generally not known.
