This specimen was lot 73268 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $585.60. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 4 Reales, 1843-Pi AM. San Luis Potosi Mint. NGC AU-58. Second finest of four coins graded by NGC. Light golden tone. Minor stain at reverse rim. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Ten mints (Mexico City, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Potosi, Oaxaca, Hermosillo, Real del Catorce, Guadalupe y Calvo, Guadalajara and Culiacan) struck this type of which Zacatecas is tied with Guanajuato as the commonest mint. Assayer AM (José Antonio Mucharraz, 1843-49) and assayer PS (Pompaso Sanabria, 1842-61) both struck four reales in 1843, with AM being the more common.
