This specimen was lot 73085 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $671. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1843-Go PM. Guanajuato Mint. NGC MS-63. Variety with convex wings. New local dies. Finest and only Mint State of just two coins graded by NGC. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." also 1843/2Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca did not strike this type. Two reales were struck at Guanajuato 1825-63 and 1867-68 with assayer PM (Patrick Murphy) recorded for 1842-48. Guanajuato and Zacatecas were the two mints which made a serious effort to strike minor coinage in addition to eight reales for export. The concave wings variety comes with an overdate, 1843/2.
