This specimen was lot 71242 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1843-GaMC. Guadalajara Mint. NGC Unc Details--Surface Hairlines. Faint adjustment marks on the obverse with a reasonably good strike, better than most. Highly lustrous and quite attractive despite the details designation." For 1843, the SCWC lists an overdate, 1843/2, and two assayers, MC and JG. This date is somewhat scarce but assayer JG is rare.
