Prussia 1752-S E 6 groscher
The first specimen was lot 3623 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €240 (about US$334 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 6-Gröscher 1752, S/E, Königsberg. Prägung für die Provinz Preußen. Mit Signatur S im Armabschnitt und arabischer 6 auf der Rückseite. Stempelschneider Schwanefelder. Einziges bekanntes Exemplar. Von allergrößter Seltenheit. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand, leicht gewellt, fast sehr schön/sehr schön. Exemplar der Slg. Manfred Olding, Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 10, Osnabrück 1988, Nr. 303. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, six groscher of 1752, Königsberg mint, struck for the province of Prussia, with the initial "S" below the bust and an Arabic "6" on the reverse. Only example known, supremely rare, rim nicks, lightly bent, about very fine/very fine.)"
The second specimen was lot 3624 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €30 (about US$42 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 6-Gröscher 1752, S/E, Königsberg. Prägung für die Provinz Preußen. Mit Signatur S im Armabschnitt und MON ARG - REG PRUS in der Rückseitenumschrift. Stempelschneider Schwanefelder. Sehr schön. Erworben am 25.1.1989 von Udo Gans, Arnsberg. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, six groscher of 1752, Königsberg mint, struck for the province of Prussia, with the initial "S" below the bust and "MON ARG - REG PRUS" in the reverse legend. Very fine.)"
The only six groscher the SCWC mentions for 1752 is with initial "S" on the obverse and a Roman numeral "VI" on the reverse (KM D278), which seems to match the second specimen. The six groscher and the accompanying three groscher and eighteen groscher were used in East Prussia and the neighboring parts of Poland.
