Künker sale 353, part of lot 3656

This specimen was part of lot 3656 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €55 (about US$77 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 2-Gröscher a) 2-Gröscher 1753 E, Königsberg. Prägung für die Provinz Preußen. Mit FRIDERICUS - BORUS REX in der Vorderseitenumschrift und II / GROSSUS / REGNI / PRUSS auf der Rückseite. Exemplar der Slg. Manfred Olding, Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 10, Osnabrück 1988, Nr. 377. ...2 Stück., Sehr schön. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, two groscher of 1753, Königsberg mint, struck for the province of Prussia, with "II / GROSSUS / REGNI / PRUSS" on the reverse. [One of] two pieces, very fine.)"

The two groscher was struck sporadically for East Prussia in the eighteenth century. This issue of 1752-53 was the first since 1703. The three, six and eighteen groscher were struck in much greater numbers.

Specification: 1.63 g, 0.250 fine silver, 19 mm diameter, this specimen 1,66 g.
