Prussia 1753-C 1/6 thaler
This specimen was lot 3436 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €550 (about US$755 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/6 Reichstaler preuß. 1753, C, Cleve. Mit schmalem Kopfbild. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Leichte Prägeschwäche am Rand, fast Stempelglanz. Erworben am 22.12.1975. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, one-sixth thaler of 1753, Cleve mint, with narrow bust. Very scarce in this quality, weakly struck on rim, about uncirculated.)"
This type was struck at several mints 1750-55. Many varieties exist. This is a scarce date.
