Künker sale 353, lot 3404

This specimen was lot 3404 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €550 (about US$766 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/12 Taler 1753, A, Berlin. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Exemplar der Auktion Westfälische Auktionsgesellschaft 5, Dortmund 1995, Nr. 197. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, one-twelfth thaler of 1753, Berlin mint. Very scarce in this quality, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was struck in large numbers at several mints 1752-55 and 1763. Many varieties exist.
