Künker sale 353, part of lot 3715

This specimen was part of lot 3715 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), which sold for €120 (about US$167 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 2 Stüber a) 2 Stüber 1753 C, Cleve. Prägung für die westlichen Landesteile. ...3 Stück., Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, double stuiver of 1753, Cleve mint, struck for the western provinces. [One of] three pieces, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1751-52 at the western mint of Cleve, along with a quarter stuber and double stuber. The Cleve mint remained active striking coins for the Hohenzollerns into the nineteenth century.
