This specimen was lot 6488 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $264.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 50 Centavos, 1880-AsL. Lightly toned, exceptional grade. NGC AU-55." The Alamos mint struck fifty centavos 1875-85, with a rare issue of 1888. While none are common compared to issues of Mexico, Guanajuato or Zacatecas, this date is common for the mint.

Recorded mintage: 57,000.

Specification: 13.53 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.
