Ponterio sale 155, lot 6217

This specimen was lot 6217 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $207. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Chihuahua. 8 Reales, 1880-MG. Tall narrow initials and oval '0' in date. BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED." The Chihuahua mint struck eight reales 1831-95. Many of the early dates are rare but this one is fairly common. Mintmasters AV (rare), PM (very rare), MG and MM are all recorded for 1880.
