Mexico 1880-Ho A 10 centavos

from the Stack's Bowers sale of the Kirk Menczer Collection, lot 71344

This specimen was lot 71344 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $240. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1880-Ho A. Hermosillo Mint. NGC AU-55 Only example in NGC Census. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Hermosillo mint struck the silver ten centavos 1874-93 with several very rare dates in the series (1876-H^O, 1883-H^O and 1884H^O A). The mint was closed in 1895 and assayer A is noted for 1878-82.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.
