Mexico 1880-Do P 50 centavos

Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Durango is somewhat scarce, priced in the SCWC over double a common Guanajuato date. This specimen was lot 9171 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $166.75. The catalog description^[1] noted, “MEXICO. Durango. 50 Centavos, 1880-DoP. Scarce date. Slightly wea[k] strike, lightly cleaned, lustrous. EXTREMELY FINE.”

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.
