This specimen was lot 72200 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $145. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 50 Centavos, 1879-As L. Alamos Mint. NGC VF-35. Second finest of only two examples graded by NGC. Scarce date. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Alamos mint struck this silver fifty centavos 1875-81, 1884-85 and 1888 and is accounted a better mint. The mintmark varied between "A" and "AS"; the latter is shown here.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a somewhat scarce date.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, 30.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
