This specimen was lot 71196 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 5 Centavos, 1879-Pi H. San Luis Potosi Mint. NGC AU Details--Bent. Only example in NGC Census. Very rare date that was unknown to Buttrey and Hubbard in their early works. Missing from most collections. Overall attractive with much detail and original toning despite planchet bent as noted by NGC. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The San Luis Potosi mint struck this type 1869-93 and it is considered a fairly common mint, tho this is a rare date. The mint was closed in 1893.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a rare date.

Specification: 1.35 g, 0.903 fine silver, 14 mm diameter, reeded edge.
