This specimen was lot 71195 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 5 Centavos, 1878/7-Pi H. San Luis Potosi Mint. NGC Fine Details--Damaged. Only example in NGC Census. Very rare and missing in most collections. Despite noted problems, it is a presentable example. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Potosi mint struck this silver five centavos 1869-79, 1886-93. This date is scarce but not rare like the 1869-PI, 1870-PI or 1872-PI. The overdate shown here is not mentioned in the SCWC.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 1.35 g, 0.903 fine silver, 14 mm diameter, reeded edge.
