This specimen was lot 71233 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1878-As L. Alamos Mint. NGC MS-64. Only example of this date graded at NGC. Amazing coin with beautiful multi-color tone. Scarce date in very rare condition. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Alamos mint struck silver ten centavos 1874-93 and most dates are fairly common to somewhat scarce. The SCWC reports an 1878/7 overdate. Unlike the five centavos, gold coin obverse dies were not used on the ten centavos. The Alamos mint was closed in 1895.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.
