Mexico 1878-Go S 10 centavos

from the Stack's Bowers sale of the Kirk Menczer Collection, lot 71317

This specimen was lot 71317 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $432. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1878/7-Go S. Guanajuato Mint. NGC AU-58. Only example graded by NGC. Attractive, very lustrous with peripheral toning on obverse. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Guanajuato mint struck silver ten centavos 1869-97 and most dates are common to very common. Despite the tiny mintage, the SCWC awards this date only a slight premium with the overdate shown here priced double the regular date. This example realized four times the catalog value.
