SB1025-71317r.jpg

This specimen was lot 71317 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1878/7-Go S. Guanajuato Mint. NGC AU-58. Only example graded by NGC. Attractive, very lustrous with peripheral toning on obverse. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Guanajuato mint struck silver ten centavos 1869-97 and most dates are common to very common. Despite the tiny mintage, the SCWC awards this date only a slight premium with the overdate shown here priced double the regular date. This example realized four times the catalog value.

Recorded mintage: 10,000 including the regular date.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM-403.5.
