This specimen was lot 71108 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $2,160. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 5 Centavos, 1878/7-Do E/P. Durango Mint. NGC MS-63. Finest and only Mint State graded at NGC. Rare date and condition for this one year assayer. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." Shown is an 1878-DO E five centavos, of a type struck 1874, 1877-81, 1887-94. This issue from Durango is only known with the overdate and is the key to the series.

Recorded mintage: 4,300.

Specification: 1.35 g, 0.903 fine silver, 14 mm diameter, reeded edge.
