from the Stack's Bowers sale of the Kirk Menczer Collection, lot 71194

This specimen was lot 71194 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 5 Centavos, 1877-Pi H. San Luis Potosi Mint. NGC MS-65. Finest and only Mint State of just three coins in NGC census. Scarce date. A bright lustrous coin enhanced by light golden-blue toning. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The San Luis Potosi mint struck this type 1869-93 and it is considered a fairly common mint, tho this is a slightly better date. The mint was closed in 1893.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a fairly common date.

Specification: 1.35 g, 0.903 fine silver, 14 mm diameter, reeded edge.
