This specimen was lot 45650 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $870. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Gold 2 1/2 Pesos, 1877-Zs S. Zacatecas Mint. NGC AU Details--Removed from Jewelry." The Zacatecas mint struck this type 1872-73, 1875, 1877-78, 1888-90 with the 1872 being the only common date. The series, never popular, ended in 1893.
