This specimen was lot 72297 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $1,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 50 Centavos, 1880-Pi H. San Luis Potosi Mint. NGC MS-61. Finest and only Mint State of three examples graded by NGC. Abundant luster. Toning is a bit uneven. Rare condition for date. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The San Luis Potosi struck this silver fifty centavos 1870-87 and is accounted a slightly better mint. Assayer H is noted for 1873-85. The mint was closed in 1893. Balance scale fifty centavos are very scarce in AU or better.

Recorded mintage: unknown but an available date.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, 30.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
