Mexico 1880/79-Mo M 10 centavos

from the Stack's Bowers sale of the Kirk Menczer Collection, lot 71378

This specimen was lot 71378 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $384. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1880/79-Mo M. Mexico City Mint. NGC MS-61. Second finest of only two graded by NGC. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Mexico City mint struck this type 1869-97 and was the most prolific producer of this denomination. Altho this is a common date, all the known specimens seem to be the overdate.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.
