from the Stack's Bowers sale of the Kirk Menczer Collection, lot 71298

This specimen was lot 71298 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $408. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1881-Ga S. Guadalajara Mint. NGC MS-64. Only example graded by NGC. Bright luster with a hint of golden toning. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Guadalajara mint struck this silver ten centavos 1871-74, 1877, 1881-95 and most of the dates are common or fairly common, as here. Assayer S is listed for 1881 only.

Recorded mintage: 115,000, a slightly better date.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.
