from the Stack's Bowers sale of the Kirk Menczer Collection, lot 72314

This specimen was lot 72314 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $264. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 50 Centavos, 1881-Zs S. Zacatecas Mint. NGC AU Details--Obverse Scratched. Tied with three others for highest graded at NGC. Almost full luster. Obverse scratches evident, but subdued by toning. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Zacatecas is common.

Recorded mintage: 201,000, a common date.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, 30.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
