This specimen was lot 72188 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 25 Centavos, 1881-Zs Z. Zacatecas Mint. NGC MS-61. Second finest of two examples graded by NGC. Softly struck on cap and bottom of wreath. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Zacatecas mint struck silver twenty-five centavos of this design 1870-90 with assayer S reported for 1876-86. The SCWC reports an 1881/0 overdate.

Recorded mintage: 570,000, a common date.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.903 fine silver, 25 mm diameter, reeded edge.
