Mexico 1881-Cn centavo

from the Stack's Bowers sale of the Kirk Menczer Collection, lot 71006

This specimen was lot 71006 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $432. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Centavo, 1881-Cn. Culiacan Mint. NGC AU-53 Brown. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Culiacan mint struck one centavos 1874-77, 1880-81 and 1897. They are not rare in circulated condition but only the 1897-C^N is available in uncirculated. It was also the only branch mint to issue the small size centavos. The mint closed in 1905.

Specification: 7.6 g, copper, 25 mm diameter, reeded edge.
