This specimen was lot 6424 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $126.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Oaxaca. 8 Reales, 1869-AE. Ornate '69' in date. ANACS EF-45." The SCWC lists this as a scarce but not rare date for Oaxaca. After 1869, production of cap-and-ray eight reales was suspended at Oaxaca in order to mint balance scale pesos; the eight reales resumed in 1873.
