Mexico City, along with Guadalajara, was the major producer of gold two escudos. Culiacan and Guanajuato, both major emitters of gold, concentrated on other denominations. Mexico City was the only producer of two escudos in 1869.

Recorded mintage: unknown but fairly common.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.875 fine gold, .190 troy oz AGW.
