Sincona sale 9, lot 4732

This specimen was lot 4732 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 800 CHF (about US$1,012 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"MEXIKO Republik. 8 Reales 1869, Mexiko. CH. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Republic of Mexico, eight reales of 1834, Mexico City mint, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This specimen was struck at the Mexico City mint in 1869. The Mexico City mint struck this type 1824-63, 1867-69, 1873-97 and most dates are common to very common.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW, this specimen 27.04 g.
