This specimen was lot 33478 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic 8 Reales 1869 A-DL MS62 NGC, Alamos mint. A fully brilliant specimen from this scarce provincial mint. Breast feathers are strong, and luster is seemingly unending." The Alamos mint struck eight reales 1864-95. Many of the early dates are rare but the 1869-A is merely scarce. An 1869/8 overdate is reported. Assayer DL was active 1866-71, 1874-79.
