Ponterio sale 168, lot 40267

The specimen shown is the last of a series struck 1824-69 at the Mexico City mint. That mint struck all denominations, silver, gold and copper. This date is common, tho many dates are rare. This specimen was lot 40267 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $1,880. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Escudos, 1869-MoCH. NGC AU-58. Lightly toned."
