This specimen was lot 8150 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $373.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guanajuato. 1/2 Real, 1831-GoMJ. NGC MS-64." It was struck at the Guanajuato mint in 1831, one of a type struck there 1826-68. Assayer MJ is listed for 1826-33. This variety, along with an 1831/29 overdate, is common.
