This specimen was lot 72308 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $793. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Real, 1831-Ga LP. Guadalajara Mint. NGC EF Details--Cleaned. Very rare date. One year assayer. Finest of just two examples graded by NGC. The other coin is GOOD-6. Almost certainly finest known of this date. Medium tone with underlying luster and claims to a higher grade. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca and Real de Catorce did not strike this type. Unlike the half reales, which appear occasionally in gem condition, this denomination nearly always comes heavily circulated. One reales were struck at the Guadalajara mint nearly continuously 1826-62. Assayer LP is listed only for 1831. This date is listed as uncommon; the 1831-LP/FS is very rare.
